Building the Platforms

What follows in the proceeding pages are my thoughts on what shape these platforms should / may / must take. For the purpose of my argument, I will be working on the basis that there are essentially 2 ways a person can live vis-à-vis the economic, political, social and cultural systems that surround him or her.

They can live their own lives as best they can within those systems – work, rest and play, and do what they believe is good and right regardless of whether they believe in, value or admire them. OR, they can choose to get out there and work hard to ensure the systems in which they live are good and right. It’s a choice between keeping your own house in order or working for the common good. Do you simply recycle your own waste or do you campaign on the streets for the government to put an affective nationwide recycling campaign in process? Do you thank God that you are in a position to provide for your family in a world where there is so much poverty, or do you jump on a plane and go work for GOAL?

It’s more like a sliding scale between both ways of living, with people positioning themselves on that scale based on what they believe in or what tools they have to work with. The internet has the potential to be an unparalleled tool in the right hands. The platforms that follow are my ideas of how to give people the most affective tools possible. Some will use them. Some won’t. The important thing is that the platforms exist, especially now that the infrastructure is becoming better and better.

I am not a web developer, but I am interested in the idea (or ideal) of the human community and its place within the world around it. I see the greatness inherent in what we are and what we can do. What it requires in order to live and breathe is a group of people with the right tools working towards a common goal. I believe the internet can provide the infrastructure people need in order to build those tools. It sounds like a lot, but it is possible once you have people networked and talking to each other. Once people believe their voice will be heard, they will make themselves known.
